Jill Greetham has had a long time love affair with Italy since she worked in Rome in the 60’s & 70’s at the United Nations FAO offices. Living in Yorkshire since 1976, where she was secretary of the Rosedale Show for many years – she kept her Italian alive by teaching ‘O’ level at Scarborough Sixth Form College. After a few years in a 12th century chateau in France, she returned once again to Italy, this time to Florence where she had a small B&B and inspected for Alastair Sawday’s ‘Special Places to Stay Italy’. Besides running cookery courses, she made her own olive oil and lived next door to a vineyard, and helped people buy property in Italy. Returning to Yorkshire she is bringìng a little of what she loves about Italy to The Royal Oak in Nunnington. She is addicted to Aperol.

Sandy Greetham was born in Rome, with a large Italian family, so there is a strong Italian influence always pulling him back to his roots. He went to school in nearby Pocklington, and after a brief career in the Dance scene Industry … he opened and ran Oliver’s 24 restaurant in Harrogate with brother James for 4 years, then spent a couple of years in Thailand and Sardinia as a scuba diving instructor. His interest with with wine grew, and has since worked some of the major wine merchants and wholesalers in the UK. Following 6 months in Sicily completing a harvest … and several years abroad in the drinks industry, selling wine in Dubai and the Seychelles, returned to the UK, where he has been UK ambassador for Antinori wines, and is presently working as sales manager for wine importers Hatch Mansfied.

Abigail Greetham grew up on a dairy farm in Rosedale Abbey with her three brothers. She went to school in York and then to Nice in France and Florence in Italy, via America and then Japan returning to school in Italy. Teaching English to Eurofor (European Peace Keeping Army (all Men that saluted me every morning!)) and to Managers and Directors of the banks in Florence. “Great Tastes of Tuscany” at Villa Pandolfini, taking groups through cooking and wine tasting courses, driving around Florence in a little yellow egg to promote the school! The leather Guild/The Gold Centre followed, explaining about fine Italian leather and Gold. From there my best job working for the 500 Touring Club….This involved tours in vintage Fiat 500s (double de clutch) in convoy around Florence up to Villa Le Piazzole for Wine tastings…. Then Production Co-ordinator on an American cooking DVD (Culinary Horizons) and freelanced as a make up artist for weddings and researcher for Sawdays Special places inTuscany
